Blake
Milton is a freelance multi-instrumentalist in Dallas, Texas. He
started on piano at age six, adding brass instruments in school
band a few years later.
Influenced
by the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, he took up guitar at twelve. By
age 15, he was a professional musician and arranged to graduate
from
high school early to move to Los Angeles were he became the
protege of famed jazz guitarist and studio musician Howard Roberts.
Blake
was a member of the first graduating class of the Guitar Institute
of Technology (G.I.T. ,now M.I.- Musician's Institute), where he
stayed to teach until moving back to Dallas, where he took up
a teaching post at the famous music location that was Arnold &
Morgan, Melody Shops and Speir Music.
He
has written 18 music books and taught over 80,000 private lessons.
Among Blake's students are many current area teachers, musicians
and celebrities, from the local Toadies to the well known Commodores.
As a clinician for Ibanez Guitars, he also worked with Steve Vai,
working on a book with him.
He
also plays bass, sax and sitar. As a sitarist, he has performed
with the Seattle Symphony for PBS, with area Beatles tribute band
A Hard Night's Day and has toured with an Indian classical music
troop. He's played and recorded with numerous bands and musicians.
Lately, he has been composing and performing on feature films and
commercials and enjoying ownership in the North Dallas jazz and
live music club Django
On The Parkway. |
